Toma Verde Tomatillo is an indeterminate open-pollinated heirloom with 70 days maturity. Also known as ‘Mexican green tomatoes’, tomatillos are an essential ingredient in Mexican cooking. They are related to the Chinese lantern and cape gooseberry. Early maturing, 3-6′ tall prolific vines are easily grown. Large, flat-round green 2-4 oz fruits are sweet yet tart and wonderful in green salsa or Mexican cooking. Toma Verde Tomatillo is tolerant to extreme conditions from dry farming to cool nights. Adapted to grow in both southern and northern climates. Flowers from the same tomatillo plant cannot pollinate themselves, so grow at least two plants side by side to produce a crop. A papery shell encases the green fruit. It turns from green to brown and splits when the fruit is ripe. About 184,000 seeds/lb OR 11,500 seeds/oz.
Each seed packet contains approximately 350 seeds. Available from SeedGro, an American brand offering only the best natural, non-GMO, open-pollinated, hybrid, and heirloom untreated seeds. Visit link for more non-GMO, untreated tomato seeds.
