It is characterized by its dark green, blistered, and finely-wrinkled leaves, forming a large drumhead-type cabbage. The heads typically measure around 20 cm in diameter and weigh between 6-8 pounds. This cabbage variety is particularly noted for its thick, bouncy texture and tender leaves. Savoy Perfection cabbage is cold hardy and develops an even better flavor after an initial light frost.

Unlike some other cabbages, it does not give off a sulfur smell when cooking, making it more appealing for culinary use.
