Black Crowder Southern Peas (Cowpea) is an open-pollinated, heirloom that matures in 63 days. Very prolific producer that yields unusually 6-7 “L pods. Peas have a deep purple color when first shelled which then turn black when dried. Green pods are easy to shell. Tall 24-36″H bushy plants with pods at foliage level. Black Crowder Cowpea is very drought resistant. Excellent for commercial production, fresh markets and home gardens. Disease resistant. Approximately 130 seeds per ounce or 2,080 seeds per pound.
