Fordhook Swiss Chard is an open-pollinated, heirloom that matures in 60 days. Standard green swiss chard. Attractive 20-24″H dark green, thick, tender savoyed leaves with broad, juicy, white stalks and white veins. Heavy yields even in hot weather. Bolt resistant. Drought and cold tolerant. Fordhook Swiss Chard is easy to grow: tolerates partial shade, poor soil and inattention. Does well in containers! Harvest frequently for cut-and-come again variety. The stems and leaves are loaded with nutrition and fiber and have a hearty spinach flavor. Can be substituted for spinach in recipes. Eat the young leaves in salads; steam, stir-fry, or sauté larger leaves. Approximately 1,600 seeds per ounce or 25,600 seeds per pound.
