Hickory King Corn is an Open-pollinated, heirloom with maturity of 115 days. Huge kernels not seen in modern corn! 12’H plants produce 2 ears per stalk. 8-9″L ears with 10-12 rows of large, flat white dented kernels per ear. Provides good support for climber plants. Tight husks help keep out beetles and corn worms. Hickory King Corn does well in most soils. Husks are tighter than most varieties and offer excellent protection from beetles and earworm. This is a Pre -1875 heirloom vareity and is still appreciated in the hills and valleys of Virginia as a roasting and hominy corn. It is excellent for hominy because the skin of the kernel is easily removed after soaking. Excellent for roasting, grits, hominy meal and cornuts. High leafy green matter which makes it perfect for silage. Excellent for roasting, grits, hominy and cornuts. Good tolerance to Northern Leaf Blight (H. turicum) and Southern Leaf Blight (H. maydis).
